QUINCY, Mass., June 14, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Granite Telecommunications is issuing an advisory to the nonprofit community, urging them to remain vigilant against an increase in phishing attempts targeting their organizations.
Granite has received numerous reports of fraudulent emails and web domains falsely claiming affiliation with Granite's President & CEO, Robert Hale, and the Hale family in relation to charitable grants offered to nonprofits. Regrettably, fraudulent attempts to take advantage of the Hale family's philanthropic endeavors have been growing in frequency, and some of these fraudulent schemes display a high level of sophistication. While Granite's security team and law enforcement are working tirelessly to put an end to such scams, the reality is that not all of them can be prevented.
Nonprofits who are concerned about the authenticity of any communications purporting to be from or associated with Robert Hale, Granite Telecommunications, or any other entity with a relationship to the Hale family or Granite, are encouraged to contact [email protected]. Upon receiving notification of potentially fraudulent activity, Granite's security team will conduct a thorough investigation and take corrective measures if necessary. However, please note that due to the high volume of inquiries received, Granite may not be able to respond to every notice.
Please be advised that Robert Hale, the Hale family, Granite Telecommunications, Granite Gives Back, Fox Rock Properties, FoxRock Cares, their employees, grantees, or partner organizations do not engage in the following activities:
- Accept unsolicited grant requests
- Request or distribute funding through email or the internet
- Mail grant checks or request refunds from grant checks
- Use any kind of links to online forms to request information
- Request information about bank accounts or any other financial information
- Request tax returns, social security numbers, or other personal information
- Request administrative fees for awarding a grant
- Host internet lotteries or offer prizes of any kind through email, postal mail, telephone, fax, or in person
- Request registration fees for conferences or meetings
- Have memberships or request fees for memberships
- Approach individuals in person offering grant opportunities
- Offer investment opportunities
