GRAY Magazine Announces the Winners of the 2018 GRAY Awards: Honoring the Best in Pacific Northwest Design
SEATTLE (PRWEB) December 12, 2018 -- Designers and manufacturers were invited to submit design projects across 11 categories including an editors’ choice category: Design for Good. An esteemed panel of international design stars—including Jaime Hayon, Ken Fulk, the Avroko Design team, Adam Lippes, Elaine Molinar of Snøhetta and David Walker and Peter Walker of PNW Landscape Architecture—reviewed and scored more than 300 entries.
Winners were revealed November 29 during the GRAY Awards party - Seattle's design event of the year. 800 of the region's design elite gathered at The Sanctuary - a prestigious Seattle event space designed by Philippe Starck in concert with Daniels Real Estate and ZGF Architects - where GRAY broke all the rules of traditional awards programming. GRAY surprised attendees with a splashy big reveal, judges announced the winners on video, GRAY's band of designers played a live performance including Queen's We are the Champions, Le Faux delivered a stunning drag show, and the special December/January Awards issue was debuted by tinsel wig-wearing dancers coming down a crowd-built "soul train."
Amidst a glittering shower of silver confetti, winners received a custom contemporary glass art trophy, handcrafted exclusively for the GRAY Awards by the critically acclaimed Seattle artist John Hogan. Winners also received a press kit from GRAY Award media partner v2com, distributed to its international database of journalists.
Through ticket sales proceeds, GRAY is also thrilled to share they donated more than $14,000 to the event's charity partner, the BLOCK Project, a non-profit program founded by architects and dedicated to alleviating homelessness in Seattle.
