A public charter network offering a classical liberal arts curriculum announces the opening of its fifth San Antonio area school in fall 2020.

Great Hearts Academies has announced plans for its newest school, which will be located in Live Oak, TX. This will be the organization’s fifth campus in the San Antonio area and will be located near the intersection of IH35 North and Northeast Loop 1604. Great Hearts will break ground on the new site, bearing the name Great Hearts Live Oak, later this fall and will open its doors to students in August 2020.

The new campus will initially serve over 600 students in grades K-7 and will expand a grade level each year until it becomes a fully enrolled K-12 campus. Phase I construction will begin later this year and Phase II will begin in subsequent years. At full capacity, the school will accommodate 1,400 students.

Great Hearts academies are tuition-free, public schools that offer a rigorous classical liberal arts curriculum including advanced math and science, robust arts and foreign language classes, and a wide range of extra-curricular activities and athletics. The core purpose of Great Hearts is to cultivate the hearts and minds of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. There are more than 19,000 children enrolled in 30 academies across Texas and Arizona.

“We proudly prepare students for success at the best colleges and universities in the nation, but see our larger purpose as graduating great hearted young men and women prepared to lead lives of purpose, both intellectually and morally.” stated Aaron Kindel, President of Great Hearts Texas. “We are inspired by the number of families in Bexar County who want a classical education and eager to welcome and serve the students at our newest academy, Great Hearts Live Oak.”

The open enrollment period for Great Hearts Live Oak, and all Great Hearts academies in San Antonio, will begin on November 13. Visit the enrollment web page at http://www.greatheartsamerica.org/enroll for application information.
