NEW YORK, Jan. 25, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- John L. Mascialino, chair of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP's New York City Government Law & Policy Practice and Jonathan L. Bing, Government Law & Policy shareholder in the firm's New York office, have been listed on City & State's "50 Over 50" list. Honorees will be recognized at a virtual event on Jan. 26.
According to City & State, the "50 Over 50" list recognizes "New York's most prominent leaders over the age of fifty in government, advocacy, labor, business, academia, and media." Mascialino and Bing were born on the same day, hours apart. It is only fitting these "partners separated at birth" would share this honor.
Mascialino focuses his practice on government contracts, administrative law, government affairs, government investigations, and government-related real estate matters. Mascialino spent several years working in City government, serving as First Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, Counsel/Deputy Chief of Staff for the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations, and was a mayoral appointee to the Franchise Concession Review Committee and served as Deputy General Counsel of the Mayor's Office of City Legislative Affairs. In addition to Mascialino' s active law practice, he also serves on various non-profits. "If you have the opportunity to give back to your community – do it," he states.
Bing served for nine years in the Assembly representing Manhattan's Upper East Side and East Midtown, where he chaired the Assembly Oversight Committee among others. In 2011, Governor Cuomo appointed him Special Deputy Superintendent of the New York Department of Financial Services in charge of the Liquidation Bureau where he oversaw impaired insurance companies.
Some of Bing's proudest accomplishments as a lawmaker is authoring a 2005 law that gave workers compensation benefits to World Trade Center recovery workers who responded after 9/11 and the 2010 no-fault divorce law that allowed couples to split up more amicably. Since 2012, Bing has advised corporations, industry associations and nonprofit clients in the entertainment, financial services, health care, hospitality, transportation, and social services industries. He helps clients advance legislation in the New York State Legislature and New York City Council, secure funding from state and city budgets, and navigate New York government.
