BOSTON (PRWEB) September 25, 2018 -- Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has added Wade Haaland, Ph.D., to its Boston office as an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Group.
A registered patent attorney and molecular biologist, Haaland focuses on helping life science clients protect and leverage their innovations. He prosecutes foreign and domestic patent applications in the biotechnology, material science, and medical device fields, and works closely with inventors and start-up companies to tailor patent applications for strategic advantage, investor interest, and cost-effective protection for their “bet-the-company” technology. Haaland also counsels agents responding to foreign patent office communications to ensure these prosecution efforts comport with, and do not undermine, domestic efforts.
Haaland routinely interviews patent examiners to educate them about his clients’ technologies and to resolve rejections. When necessary, he drafts appeals for consideration by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that aggressively argue against the examiners and advocate for his clients’ interests. Haaland also performs freedom to operate, landscape, and patentability analyses in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology arenas along with performing due diligence of IP portfolios for licensing agreements and mergers and acquisitions.
Haaland is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Texas and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He is not admitted in Massachusetts and his practice is limited to federal patent law.
