Greenberg Traurig Continues Growth of Mexico City Office, Adds Leading Antitrust and Competition Lawyer Víctor Manuel Frías
Mexico City, Mexico (PRWEB) September 10, 2015 -- Greenberg Traurig, LLP is pleased to announce that Víctor Manuel Frías will join the firm’s Mexico City office in the Antitrust Litigation & Competition Practice Group. Frías has joined as a shareholder from Casares, Castelazo, Frías y Zárate, S.C. The addition is part of an overall expansion of Greenberg Traurig's Mexico City office that includes the hiring of Frías, as well as his former firm’s entire antitrust and corporate practice groups.

Frías focuses his practice on corporate and competition law, including mergers and acquisitions and associated economic and antitrust issues. His clients include major companies in various industries, including technology, information services, pharmaceuticals, product manufacturing, real estate and retail. Frías has represented both the Mexican government in public takeover transactions and several multinational companies in privatization deals. He has also advised Mexican and foreign companies in cartel and restrictive practice proceedings and merger control processes, including handling appeals of decisions issued by the Competition Commission to the Mexican Courts. Frías has also represented foreign entities in commercial arbitration, including the filing of one of the most substantial claims ever made against a Mexican government entity. Other high-profile advisory roles include representing investment funds in their acquisition of Mexican companies and the structuring of exit strategies.
Frías earned a law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho, a postgraduate degree in tax law from the same law school, and an LL.M. degree with honors from The University of Chicago Law School.
Frías has been recognized as a leading lawyer in competition and antitrust by Chambers & Partners Latin America, and has also received an “M&A Deal of the Year” award by Latin Lawyer. He and the rest of the antitrust and corporate team joining Greenberg Traurig have also been widely recognized as one of Mexico’s best by several publications, including Wealth & Finance International Magazine, which named the corporate team “Best in Business Law – Mexico” during its 2014 Finance Awards. The corporate team also won “Commercial Law Firm of the Year” at the 2014 Legal Awards hosted by Al Global Media Ltd. That same year, the antitrust practice received the “Law Firm of the Year in Competition/Antitrust” award by KMH Media Group.

In addition to Frías, Carmina Mogollón will also join the firm’s Mexico City office in the Corporate & Securities Practice Group as of counsel from Casares, Castelazo, Frías y Zárate, S.C. Mogollón brings a wide-range of experience on privacy and other compliance matters.
Mogollon’s practice concentrates on commercial matters in connection with data-protection, FCPA, compliance and transactional issues in the technology, e-commerce and manufacturing industries. She has significant experience representing foreign and Mexican entities with corporate governance, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring processes, cross-border structured finance and securitization transactions. During her tenure at the Institute for the Protection of Bank Savings (IPAB), Mogollón advised clients on governmental assets recovery processes. She was also a key member of the group that represented the Mexican government before the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI).
Mogollón holds a law degree with honors from Universidad Iberoamericana, a postgraduate degree in financial law from Universidad Iberoamericana, and a master’s degree in international business from Grenoble Graduate School of Business.
