Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta Office Lends Helping Hand to Elementary School as Part of 16th Annual ServiceJuris Day
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) July 08, 2015 -- The Atlanta office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP participated in the 16th annual ServiceJuris Day on June 20, with representation from more than 30 attorneys and business staff. This year’s ServiceJuris, a day of service provided by Georgia’s legal community, supported four sites in south Atlanta: Centers of Hope at Thomasville Boys & Girls Club, Thomasville Heights Elementary School, Slater Elementary School, and Price Middle School.
For its part of the effort, Greenberg Traurig completed projects at Slater Elementary School including repairing and repainting an outdoor classroom, sanding and staining outdoor garden beds, repairing a fence, and building new picnic tables. In addition, Greenberg Traurig representatives donated school supplies in conjunction with the day of service for Slater’s School Store.
Greenberg Traurig attorneys were also represented on the leadership committee. Amy Kelly, an associate in the Litigation Group, served as co-chair of ServiceJuris, while Stephanie Oginsky Mitchell, of counsel in litigation, was treasurer and will return next year as a 2016 co-chair.
“This was my second year co-chairing ServiceJuris, and once again I was encouraged by the enthusiasm and effort exhibited by all the participants, including the Greenberg Traurig team,” Kelly said. “Our attorneys, staff, and members of their families came out in full force on Saturday to ensure the students at Slater Elementary would return to an improved facility after the summer break.”
“Greenberg Traurig and its peers in the Atlanta legal community have once again demonstrated an ability to make a powerful impact on the lives of those in need,” said Ted Blum, co-managing shareholder of the Atlanta office. “We were especially pleased this year’s efforts focused on youth and education, areas on which our firm places emphasis throughout the year. I’d also like to extend thanks and congratulations to Amy and Stephanie for their hard work in organizing the event, and for representing Greenberg Traurig’s strong commitment to community service.”
Across Georgia’s legal community, 400 volunteers from more than 30 participating law firms and legal services companies turned out for the event. Throughout the history of ServiceJuris Day, thousands of volunteers have contributed more than 20,000 hours of service on projects including enriching the learning environments of public school students, renovating neighborhood parks, and enabling citizens to utilize their community centers.
