Greenberg Traurig’s Patricia Menéndez-Cambó Wins ‘Outstanding Contribution to Gender Diversity’ Award as Part of Chambers USA Women in Law Awards
MIAMI (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- Patricia Menéndez-Cambó, Vice President and Chair of the Global Practice at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been named the winner of the “Outstanding Contribution to Gender Diversity” award as part of the 2014 Chambers USA Women in Law Awards.
The awards, presented recently at The Harvard Club of New York, honor outstanding female in-house counsel and private practice lawyers who are committed to furthering the advancement of women in the field of law. Criteria for nomination include the success of the lawyers’ individual practices in addition to their work and commitment to gender equality, mentoring and public service.
“I am honored to receive this award and look forward to continuing to work in the U.S. and internationally to raise awareness of the issues affecting women lawyers,” said Menéndez-Cambó, who during her tenure as a shareholder at Greenberg also served as Subdirectora General for Teléfonica S.A. “It is critical that the next generation of young women receive the mentoring and educational opportunities they need in the workplace to maximize their future leadership potential.”
Richard Rosenbaum, the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, added: “We are extremely proud of this well-deserved and hard-earned recognition, which is a testament to Patty’s commitment to combine her professional success with her personal passion for supporting the advancement of women lawyers. Based on her achievements and her work as an advocate for women attorneys, Patty serves as a source of inspiration for many other attorneys, both within our firm and the legal community, who are motivated to follow her example.”
Among other things, Menéndez-Cambó is noted for leading the development of a “role model” program throughout the Americas aimed at partnering women leaders of today with those of the next generation. The program focuses on closing the economic gender gap and improving social norms by establishing a network of role models for women in the Americas.
At Greenberg Traurig, Menéndez-Cambó focuses her international practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance, capital markets and general corporate and securities law matters. She has been lead counsel on numerous first-time cross-border transactions. Since joining Greenberg Traurig in 2002, she has risen to top leadership positions at the firm. Based in the firm’s Miami office, she currently serves as the firm’s Vice President and Secretary, co-chairs its Global Energy & Infrastructure Practice, and is a member of the firm's Executive Committee. Prior to assuming the leadership of the firm's Global Practice Group, she headed the firm's Latin American and Iberian Practice.
In addition to her work in the legal field, Menéndez-Cambó is actively involved with many legal and community organizations. She is an active member of the World Economic Forum’s Gender Parity group, which is committed to promoting women’s leadership and gender parity worldwide. For her many achievements and contributions, the organization selected her as a “Young Global Leader.” Menéndez-Cambó is a board member of the Americas Society/Council of Americas (AS/COA) and has been a featured speaker at numerous AS/COA Women’s Economic Empowerment Conferences along with Michelle Bachelet, former president of Chile and UN Women executive director, and Mexican First Lady Margarita Zavala de Calderón.
Menéndez-Cambó is also a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association; National Association of Women Lawyers; and the Women’s Interest Group of the International Bar Association. She has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, including being recognized by the National Law Journal as one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America;” the “50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America;” the “Top 40 under 40” and the “50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America.” She was also recently selected by Latin Lawyer as one of 15 “Inspiring Women in Law.”
