Greenberg Traurig to Host Washington Women’s Leadership Initiative Networking Luncheon
MCLEAN, Va. (PRWEB) March 04, 2019 -- The Northern Virginia Women’s Initiative of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP and Washington Women’s Leadership Initiative, will host a networking luncheon titled, “Living a Life of Service and Advocacy,” with Dr. Ximena Hartsock, founder and president of Phone2Action, a venture-backed, award-winning civic engagement and communications technology company. The luncheon will be held on March 6 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Greenberg Traurig’s Northern Virginia office. Hartsock will share her experience immigrating to the United States, serving the District of Columbia as a cabinet member in Mayor Adrian M. Fenty’s administration, and then founding a technology firm that is at the forefront of advocacy.
Hartsock’s company, Phone2Action, is a leading software platform for civic engagement in the United States. Prior to founding Phone2Action, Hartsock served in the Fenty administration as the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, and later as the Chief of Staff of the City Administration. Before serving as Parks Director, Hartsock was Deputy Chief for Teaching and Learning for D.C. Public Schools under the education overhaul led by Michelle Rhee and Adrian Fenty. In that role, she led key reforms, including the expansion of online learning, the International Baccalaureate program, STEM education, foreign language programs, and the implementation of a comprehensive “Out of School Time” curriculum that served students after school, on weekends, and in the summer. She also led the implementation of a credit recovery program for students at risk of dropping out. These efforts were key in improving Washington, D.C.’s historically low high school graduation rates.
