Greenberg Traurig’s Katharine J. Neer to Speak at NYSBA’s Women on the Move CLE
NEW YORK (PRWEB) October 22, 2019 -- Katharine J. Neer, a Government Law & Policy associate in the Albany office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP will speak at the New York State Bar Association’s (NYSBA) Women on the Move 2019 CLE Program, Oct. 23 in Albany, New York. The panel entitled, “Women in Leadership Changing Paths - Leadership Development, Overcoming Barriers and Honing Your Skills,” will discuss the pressures women face in traditional law practice, as well as the changes many women seek by charting a new course in the judiciary, in-house, or public service sectors.
Neer assists clients on New York State legislative and regulatory issues. She specifically works with clients in the financial services industry on regulatory compliance issues, including compliance with cybersecurity rules and various labor issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Neer served as Assistant Secretary for General Government and Financial Services in the New York State Governor’s Office. At the Governor’s office, she was a member of the state operations team overseeing policy and operations for six agencies: the Department of Financial Services (DFS); the State Insurance Fund; the Department of State; the Department of Tax and Finance; the Office of General Services; and the Gaming Commission. During her time in the Governor’s office, Neer was responsible for negotiating and overseeing the implementation of several key policy initiatives, including Paid Family Leave, Ride-Share, and the DFS’s cybersecurity regulations.
Neer was named to City & State’s 2018 “Albany 40 Under 40 Rising Stars” list and is a board member of Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood. She received her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law; M.P.A., Public Administration and Policy, magna cum laude, University at Albany; and B.A., magna cum laude, State University of New York at Albany.
