Knoxville Accident Injury Attorney Greg Coleman Presses for Recall on Toyota, Nissan over Allegations of Melting Dashboards
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (PRWEB) August 26, 2014 -- Auto accident injury lawyer Greg Coleman is calling for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to recall Nissan and Toyota vehicles that consumers are allegedly claiming have melting dashboards.
“There is no excuse for cracked, melting dashboards,” Coleman said. As an attorney and founder of the Knoxville law firm Greg Coleman Law, Coleman is stressing the impact that this alleged defect could have on driver safety.
A search of the NHTSA’s complaint database turns up numerous complaints of sticky, shiny dashboards in 2007 Toyota Camry and 2008 Nissan Altima models. (1, 2)
“[In those complaints] Consumers are claiming that the glare from the sun is enough to obstruct their vision, which could be a major cause of accidents. We’re asking the NHTSA to step up and initiate a recall to ensure no one is hurt by this potential defect,” said Coleman.
The Center for Auto Safety, a consumer watchdog group, has also called for NHTSA action. A recent report by Atlanta news station WSB-TV Channel 2 illustrates the impact of the issue, which seems to affect vehicles in hotter, humid climates in the southern region of the country. (3)
“At the very least, this is an important regional issue affecting a great deal of people,” Coleman said. “We believe Toyota and Nissan should definitely issue a recall for these problems.”
At this point, no injuries or deaths have been reported in association with the melting, shiny dashboards.
