SAN DIEGO, Mar. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- GroGuru will be presenting as a finalist company in the San Diego Angel Conference (SDAC) on March 15, 2019. SDAC is the culmination of many months of due-diligence, review, evaluation, and selection by the investors participating in the Conference. The entrepreneurial candidates are narrowed down from over 90 applying companies and on the day of the Conference, the finalists have the opportunity to make their best 10-minute pitch for why their company deserves the investment.
"The San Diego Angel Conference has exceeded our expectations," said Mysty Rusk, Director, The Brink SBDC, "We received more than twice as many applications as anticipated and the quality of the companies is exceptional. It is great to see GroGuru as a finalist in a very competitive landscape."
The SDAC includes a set of seasoned community-minded investors paired with novice first-time investors, that jointly create a single purpose LLC, and pool their funds to create an investment of up to $200,000 to be awarded to the competition winner at SDAC. Entrepreneurs receive intense coaching and feedback to ensure deal flow improves, as they prepare to compete at SDAC. The process down selected all applicants to 32 quarter-finalists, where each gave a three minute presentation about their company. The field was then narrowed to 16 semi-finalists, and eventually to the seven finalists via a 10-minute company presentation.
"The selection of our top finalists for the San Diego Angel Conference was arduous with over 20 active angel investors reviewing applications, rating Gust profiles, and scoring pitch presentations. We are honored to have GroGuru stand out as one of the 7 finalists amongst 91 SoCal startups who entered this process." Dr. Silvia Mah, fund manager, San Diego Angel Conference & Founding Partner at Ad Astra Ventures.
"We are honored to be named as a finalist in the San Diego Angel Conference event and are very excited for the final pitch session on March 15th," said Patrick Henry, president and CEO of GroGuru. "We want to congratulate all the finalists, which includes a diverse group of entrepreneurs that have amazing young companies that all have the potential to be huge successes. We are grateful to be included in such a prestigious group. While this process has been intensive, it has been extremely valuable for me and the GroGuru team."
This event is open to the public. Investors make the final decision on which company will receive the funds, but there is a People's Choice Award for all participating attendees. To learn more, go to https://www.sandiego.edu/sdac/
