Groundbreaking Ceremony for Blue Ridge Elementary School
WRA Architects and Blue Ridge ISD Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony to Begin Construction on New Elementary School
BLUE RIDGE, Texas, June 19, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Blue Ridge Independent School District, a Collin County district, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the start of construction for their newest elementary school, Blue Ridge Elementary. The new Blue Ridge Elementary School will be located across the street from the existing Blue Ridge High School.
"It has been a pleasure working with WRA's talented staff," said Matt Kimball, Superintendent of Blue Ridge ISD. "We've been most impressed with how attentively they listen to us, process what we need, and adapt as things evolve and change during the projects." Kimball continued, "The design of the new elementary school has amazed our community and stakeholders. The campus is a true reflection of their work with our students, staff, and parents."
This new elementary school is needed for a growing district. The design for this building is strategically placed on a sloped piece of land. WRA Architects has incorporated the sloped land by highlighting the academic wing elevated over the hill, leaving space for a covered outdoor learning area below. "We have enjoyed the nature of this project, having the creative space to maximize the geographical details into the overall design; we think the kids are really going to enjoy this space," shared Jason Oswald, Partner with WRA Architects. In addition, Blue Ridge Elementary features an existing large field and pond, providing students with the opportunity to experiment with the nature around them for outdoor learning.
The 73,000 square foot facility will incorporate numerous collaborative learning spaces for students and teachers. Additionally, the school will provide ample amount of natural sunlight in the main corridor of the building that connects all the functions of the school. The project is scheduled to be completed August of 2021 to ring in the 2021 school year.
