Habitat for Humanity Featured in Atlanta’s Premier Who’s Who Publication
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) June 09, 2016 -- Habitat for Humanity has helped build and rehabilitate more than one million homes around the world, helping over 6.8 million people. Commonly referred to just as “Habitat,” the company volunteers build homes which are financed for families whose economic circumstances were prohibitive to home ownership. In the last year alone, the nonprofit built, rehabilitated, and repaired almost 10,000 homes in the United States.
The organization utilizes a pride-of-ownership model, in which the program’s families contribute time and money to the process. The homes themselves are built with safety, accessibility, and sustainability in mind. The company was recognized with The National Association of Homebuilders 2016 Single Family Builder Safety Program of the Year Award. In 2015, it was estimated that about two-thirds of the Habitat homes in The United States met or exceed ENERGY STAR requirements. As Larry Gluth, the Senior VP for the U.S. and Canada Habitat branches, explains, “Because our families typically stay in their homes for several years, we’ve made a conscious effort to incorporate universal design elements into our homes.” Learning about the latest innovations in design is easier than ever with The Who’s Who in Building & Construction, a regional magazine with an emphasis on local project coverage, cutting edge, content, and a buyers’ guide of the industry’s best and brightest.
Habitat for Humanity does more than just build homes; it revitalizes neighborhoods. With the Neighborhood Revitalization program, which began in Washington Park, the organization adds community development services to new construction efforts. The organization looks at neighborhoods with the goal of forming effective communities, a mission that must incorporate job access, education, transportation, healthcare, and residential networks. Networking is also a vital component for a thriving commercial construction industry, and to that end, The Who’s Who Showcase is available. These networking and education events are where the magazine – and the industry itself—come to life.
The Atlanta Who's Who In Building & Construction Showcase takes place on June 9th at 755 Club at Turner Field. For more information about the Showcases, please visit http://www.ShowcaseLaunch.com.
