Haivision and SRT Alliance Bring Broadcast and Cloud Leaders Together with Historical SRT InterOp Plugfest
More than 40 companies established multi-vendor interoperability for low latency broadcast and streaming across three major cloud platforms globally.
MONTREAL, Dec. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Haivision (TSX: HAI), a leading provider of mission-critical, real-time video streaming and networking solutions, and the SRT Alliance, a collaborative community of over 450 solution providers supporting the SRT Open Source project, today announced the completion of the SRT InterOp Fall 2020 Plugfest.
Hosted by Haivision and the SRT Alliance, the SRT InterOp Plugfest attracted more than 40 leading broadcast and streaming vendors who successfully tested interoperability between products, services, and solutions that support the SRT Open Source protocol for low latency video streaming over virtually any network. In all, more than 700 product compatibilities were confirmed. Participating companies included AJA, Avid, Evertz, Grass Valley, Imagine Communications, JVC, LTN, NetInsight, Sony and Telestream.
SRT (Secure Reliable Transport), originally developed and open sourced by Haivision, is a video streaming protocol which enables remote and cloud-based high-performance video workflows. SRT is helping solution providers to solve today's challenges including newsgathering, remote production and enabling broadcasters' at-home workforces.
Highlights of the SRT InterOp Plugfest include:
- Haivision provided the core SRT transport infrastructure, including Makito X4 4K low latency video encoders, SRT Gateway cloud instances on Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, and Alibaba Cloud, and Haivision Hub for global low latency stream connectivity.
- Telestream provided their latest Telestream Cloud | Stream Monitoring Service to assure the network and video quality for IP video streams shared between participants.
- The latest SRT developments were presented, including new enhancements to the IETF Internet Draft submission.
- Results showed near 100 percent compatibility amongst vendor solutions with over 700 positive interoperability tests.
