Somerset, MA (PRWEB) June 22, 2015 -- The song “Got Your Back” is written and performed by British singer songwriter Julia Fordham and is available in all digital stores worldwide. “Got Your Back” celebrates LGBT allies and brings a powerful message about people coming together in support of one another for change. The release coincides with this week's high hopes of a positive decision on nationwide marriage equality from the Supreme Court of the US, reference the Obergefell v. Hodges, argued April 28, 2015, docket 14-556.
The song is featured in a short film, “STATUS UNKNOWN”. Currently in production, it highlights the plight of married lesbian couple, Caroline and Laurie Hart, of Somerset, Massachusetts, and the nightmare they faced as a bi-national couple fighting for equality to allow them to stay together. “We were told we had to go either under the radar or over the radar if we had a hope of staying together. So we chose to go over the radar and were so amazed by the overwhelming support that we received. From celebrities and politicians, to everyday folk from around the world, each and every person expressing support has made a huge difference”, the Harts explain.
The music video, for “Got Your Back”, available now on YouTube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1qOKlLcvmE includes inspiring messages from LGBT allies such as Sharon Stone, New York Congressman Jerry Nadler, Martina Navratilova, Jason Alexander, WCVB5’s Heather Unruh and many more. It also incorporates beautiful messages of thanks from the LGBT community who are grateful to those like the “Harts” who are prepared to stand up and fight.
“All the messages are strong and heartfelt and if it helps change one persons mind towards greater LGBT acceptance or helps one person to feel that they are not alone, then we will have achieved our goal! This is for everyone” say the Harts.
Fordham says "Can you believe there was a time when interracial marriages were banned in America, the land of the free and the home of the brave?! Love + Love = LOVE no matter the shade of your skin or the mix of your chromosomes.
XX+XX=LOVEXY+XY=LOVEXX+XY=LOVE.
Let’s join the Irish and get the math right with equal rights for ALL NOW!"
“What we want to hear now are the supreme court justices saying 'Got Your Back' by voting in favor of nationwide marriage equality next week” the Harts add.
