Harvard Business School Association of Boston Presents Annual Business & Community Leadership Event on Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Social Impact
The 2nd Annual Business & Community Leadership Dinner will include top leaders in the startup and civic community including event honoree Diane Hessan, Chairman of C Space and CEO of Salient Ventures and Massachusetts Governor, Charlie Baker who will speak on the Commonwealth's thriving innovation economy and continued efforts to support future growth.
BOSTON, Sept. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Harvard Business School Association of Boston (HBSAB), one of the largest alumni clubs of Harvard Business School (HBS), will host its 2nd Annual Business & Community Leadership Dinner on October 1, 2019, at the Harvard Club of Boston. Lisa Hughes, award-winning WBZ-TV journalist, will return as emcee for the event and Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker will speak on the Commonwealth's thriving innovation economy and continued efforts to support future growth.
The event will also showcase artwork from ArtLifting, founded by well-known entrepreneur Liz Powers (Harvard '10). ArtLifting connects talented artists impacted by homelessness or disabilities with socially conscious companies in Greater Boston and around the world.
The event will bring together more than 250 top business and community leaders along with HBS alumni to celebrate the intersection of leadership, entrepreneurship, and social impact and will present Diane Hessan (HBS MBA '77), Chairman, C Space & CEO, Salient Ventures, with our Business & Community Leader of the Year Award. "We are elated to honor Diane as our Business & Community Leader of the Year. She is a pioneer in the startup community and has mentored and inspired hundreds of entrepreneurs in the Boston area and beyond. Her decades of leadership and the positive impact she has made on so many entrepreneurs in our community are an inspirational example of how to make a difference in the world," said HBS Association of Boston's President James Driscoll. The event will also include several recognitions along with a personal fireside chat between Lisa Hughes and Diane Hessan where they will discuss the important role leaders need to take in shaping and impacting our communities.
Diane Hessan was the founder, president, and CEO of C Space, formally Communispace, and currently serves as its chairman. She then joined the Startup Institute as CEO to help educate the next generation of entrepreneurs and key hires for new ventures. Currently, Diane leads Salient Ventures as CEO, where she invests in and advises many entrepreneurs and their startup ventures in the Greater Boston ecosystem. In addition, Diane serves on the boards of Eastern Bank, Brightcove (BCOV), Tufts University, Mass Challenge, CoachUp, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Panera (PNRA). She is also Special Advisor to Datapoint Capital, a leading early-stage venture firm. In 2017, the Boston Globe appointed her to its Editorial Board.
Founded in 1923, the HBS Association of Boston's charter consists of three core pillars, including Leadership, Social Enterprise, and Entrepreneurship. Community Action Partners, under the Social Enterprise pillar, harnesses HBS and Harvard Kennedy School alumni to channel their business expertise to improve the performance of nonprofit organizations and help them address strategic issues by providing approximately 8,000 hours of pro bono consulting services per year. The Entrepreneurship pillar includes the New Venture Competition and StartUp Partners, a platform through which HBS alumni share their industry knowledge and business building experience with dozens of local entrepreneurs every year.
