Healing The Heroes of 9-11 Documentary Brings Hope to 9-11 Survivors on 20th Anniversary
22Zero, a non-profit dedicated to healing PTSD in veterans, first responders, and medical professionals is releasing a free documentary titled, Healing the Heroes of 9-11: The Way Forward, to show people that PTSD can be healed.
NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- 22Zero, a non-profit dedicated to healing PTSD in veterans, first responders, and medical professionals is releasing a free documentary titled, Healing the Heroes of 9-11: The Way Forward, to show people that PTSD can be healed. The documentary, directed/produced by award-winning filmmaker Michael Gier, will air on Vimeo and YouTube starting on September 11.
This documentary tells the story of five survivors of 9-11, four of whom were at ground zero when the planes crashed into the World Trade Center. The fifth was at the Pentagon. The film honestly depicts how these five individuals were living with PTSD and shows they struggled to function before 22Zero's treatment program. Today, they are healed of their PTSD, anxiety and other negative emotions and can revisit the city and the memorial without the negative effects of trauma.

Bill Hayes is a 25 year member of the Fire Department of New York City (FDNY) and retired in 2014. Bill worked on 9-11-2001 and lost many friends that day. Bill struggled with PTSD for many years. However after the documentary, he went through 22Zero's Trauma Resiliency-Protocol and the Emotions Management Process and longer has PTSD symptoms. Bill also served as a member of the New York Air National Guard and has deployed to Afghanistan in combat operations, fighting the Global War on Terror.
Chaplain Kim Osorio had her first day as a chaplain as she was scorched by fire on 9-11-2001. It defined her career and she even deployed to the Surfside collapse in Miami, Florida. Kim talks a lot about compassion fatigue and how it affected her. She scored high enough for a diagnosis of PTSD. However after filming the Healing the Heroes of 9-11 documentary, she went through TRP/EMP and is free of PTSD symptoms. Kim is going to come on board with 22Zero as a chaplain for our veteran and first responder communities.
Bonnie Giebfried worked as a contract EMT for New York City on 9-11. While she was responding to ground zero, Bonnie was buried alive on two occasions that day. Each time she was lucky to escape. Due to her injuries from 9-11, she was forced into an early retirement in 2004. Whenever she went into the city, it was only for brief periods of time. Bonnie couldn't function normally visiting NYC, even feeling claustrophobic on the subway. Her scores for PTSD were high. That's until she was interviewed in the documentary and guided through TRP/EMP. Bonnie no longer has symptoms of PTSD.
John Walker was a US Marine on 9-11. As he took the ferry into work on 9-11, he watched the towers collapse. Not only did he watch the towers collapse, but he was on the phone with his girlfriend as they were hit. He heard the blood curdling scream as the towers fell, with his girlfriend in the tower next to ground zero. His phone lost connection and he thought he lost her. John scored high enough for a diagnosis of PTSD. Immediately after his interview for the documentary, 22Zero took him through their TRP/EMP process and he no longer has PTSD symptoms. John is the CEO of an international company called Holo Sail Technologies, Inc. John no longer has any symptoms of PTSD.
Carlo Pacileo was at the gym in the D.C. area the morning of 9-11. He was scheduled to work a paramedic shift later that day. When called to action, Carlo and his partner arrived at the Pentagon and began pulling survivors out. They prepared them for transport and got these victims to local hospitals for treatment. Carlo put on his fire gear and entered the Pentagon and repeatedly searched for survivors for days. Carlo went on to become a D.C. police officer and private security for presidents and dignitaries. Carlo struggled with PTSD symptoms all the way up to his interview for Healing the Heroes of 9-11. 22Zero went through their TRP/EMP process with Carlo for an hour and a half following the film and he no longer has symptoms of PTSD.
