Boston, MA (PRWEB) April 07, 2014 -- Wellframe, a Boston-based company that combines mobile technology and artificial intelligence to amplify caring clinical relationships by engaging patients in personalized care plans, today announced that the company has secured $1.5M in seed funding from leading entrepreneurs and investors. These include, among others, athenahealth CEO, Jonathan Bush, Founder and Managing Director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Tim Draper, President of the British Medical Association, Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, Former Global Managing Director at Accenture, Russ Nash, Venture Partner at Fidelity Biosciences, Carl Byers and Founder and Managing Partner, Leerink Capital Partners, James Nahirny. Wellframe was also a member company of Rock Health's fourth class.
“We could not be more pleased with the support we’ve received from our investors,” said Wellframe CEO Jacob Sattelmair. “Beyond providing capital, they are trusted mentors. Being able to tap a network of successful C-level executives for candid input is invaluable, and we’ve put a premium on attracting proven operators who know the market and know what it's like to be in our shoes”.
“Wellframe's cross-platform health GPS technology fulfills the mobile promise for patients and providers,” said Carl Byers, Venture Partner at Fidelity Biosciences and former CFO of athenahealth. “The company's team, its partners, and its clients will benefit as this financing enables accelerated product and market leadership.”
Additionally, Dogu Celebi, MD, MPH, has joined the Wellframe team as Head of Product and Market Strategy. Dr. Celebi has a long track record working with innovative healthcare companies, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Medical Informatics at Audax Health.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Wellframe team,” said Celebli. “I strongly believe that Wellframe is in a position to transform the way patients engage with their own healthcare by mobilizing and extending already trusted relationships between the patients and their care team. The Wellframe technology is a potentially disruptive force that will drive new models of care coordination and population health management.”
In February, Wellframe announced that the company had rolled out its platform at South Shore Hospital. Clinicians at the hospital are using the platform to extend rehabilitation services to cardiology patients in between hospital visits. In addition to several ongoing clinical trials, Wellframe expects to make a number of customer announcements among health plans and providers in the coming months.
Wellframe delivers a mobile platform for care management to healthcare stakeholders looking to amplify their human resources to better engage more patients. The platform includes a mobile application for end-users, a cloud-hosted dashboard for care managers, a secure architecture that renders personalized clinical protocols as daily to-do lists and an artificial intelligence engine. Wellframe is available on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.
