The Dental Optimizer's tools are now available for employers and insurance companies to engage patients and improve their dental health. This white label offering will assist patients as they navigate changes in the dental health care field.
“We designed the Dental Optimizer thinking it would help patients find the best dentist for their needs,” explains Healthy Grid's Andrew Clapp. “As we developed the program and people began using the tools we began to get inquiries from insurances providers: could they use the Dental Optimizer under their name to help their clients? They can.”
The Dental Optimizer takes patient information and helps the patient find the best dentist near them while offering information about preventative opportunities, common teeth problems, and costs of common dental procedures. Patients can also use the Dental Optimizer to contact a dentist about a problem through the ask-a-dentist feature.
The best dentist finder program connects patients to nearby dentists whose services match their needs. Patients submit information such as age, special needs, current tooth issues, and dental history. The dentists' profiles have information including specialties, location, languages spoken, as well as links to publications by the dentists. There's also a section for reviews so patients can hear from other patients before making an appointment.
Many people look for a dentist while they are experiencing a problem with their teeth. The Dental Optimizer's Ask-A-Dentist feature allows them to ask a dentist by email about their issue. According to Clapp, this often leads to the patient making an appointment and resolving their problem quickly. Many dentists have also submitted articles about dental health which patients can browse while searching for information about their teeth. This leads to new appointments as well.
The Dental Optimizer also features two dental health assessments for patients to fill out. The gum-disease-risk assessment and the cavity-risk assessment both help patients better understand their current state of health. The results of these assessments can be forwarded to the dentist so they have an understanding of the patient's problems when they come in for an appointment.
Clapp notes that the cost-calculator has been one of the most popular features of the Dental Optimizer and also one of the most appealing to the companies who are signing on to use it. “We like to make it clear that the calculator is designed to be customized,” he explains. “We want to be giving the most accurate estimates so that there is no surprise. Between the dentists and the insurance carriers this tool has been effective at helping patients make that appointment before their problem gets worse.”
As costs rise for businesses to provide dental care the preventative features within the Dental Optimizer have become even more appealing. Between the ask-a-dentist program and the virtual library of dental articles, patients have access to the information they need to maintain their teeth. “The preventative aspects have been great for improving the dental health of Dental Optimizer users,” says Clapp. “This in turn helps keep costs down for employers and insurance companies and it helps keep patients from needing too many procedures which, we know, they like.”
For employers and insurance companies the Dental Optimizer will be available with all of its features in white label form where it can be branded to meet the needs of the company.
