Two non-profit organizations, Colorado-based Heaven on Earth Now and Baltimore City-based Youth Empowered Society (YES), have partnered to offer essential housing supports to young people in Baltimore experiencing homelessness. YES connects young people – ages 18 to 25 -- with housing and new this year, Heaven on Earth NOW will provide 55 of them with household living essentials, furnishings, and healthy food.

“YES focuses on both the immediate needs of our youth as well as their long-term needs, including housing and jobs,” says Blair Franklin, YES’ Executive Director. “Securing permanent housing is an important step for our youth and getting them basic supplies for their new housing is essential.” Terrylynn M. Tyrell, Development Director, shares, “This collaborative partnership is right on time. Last year YES, with the help of our funding community, supported 65 youth who were experiencing homelessness in securing housing.” As part of its House to Home project, Heaven on Earth NOW provides new mattress and box springs, bedding, kitchen utensils, safety and cleaning supplies, personal and other crucial items that transform living spaces into homes.

Cottrill, Executive Director of Heaven on Earth NOW. “We offer the youth an opportunity to pick from a list of supplies and share their favorite colors and preferences, which lends them added dignity in a place they can finally call home.” Heaven on Earth NOW also gives each client a bag of Good for You Groceries, healthy non-perishables and farm fresh goods (as available) they can use to nourish themselves as they launch into new lives.
