New London, CT (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- Today, New London, Connecticut-based creative studio Killer Minnow released its first original mobile game Rocket Runner. The game is an exhilarating, side-scrolling, 2D shooter developed specifically for mobile platforms.

"Rocket Runner is distinct," says Killer Minnow, Creative Director, Rob King. "Players can transform the hero character Jarma Queed from his ‘rocket’ mode to ‘runner’ mode using the game’s unique touch screen swipe mechanic. This allows them to not only maneuver around obstacles but also engage in combat with a fun, diverse array of weaponry."

The game includes:

  • Three beautiful, distinctively-designed environments with 22 levels of action-filled gameplay.
  • A wide-variety of unique power-ups and weapons, including the Gatling Gun, Tri-Blaster, Hellfire Missile, and Black Hole Generator to be used against a swarming array of alien enemies.
  • Numerous fun upgrades available via in-app purchase, including coin doublers, weapons upgrades, and the "Breaking Jarma" and "Jarma Assemble" space suits.
  • Original music and sound effects by award-winning composer Rob Gokee and award-winning sound designer Tom Salta.

"I think we succeeded in making a cool mix of action, adventure, and comedic elements in Rocket Runner. And we think players will agree," says Head of Animation, Chris Conway. Adds Executive Producer, Steve Lettieri. "Just a few weeks ago we saw the appearance of the original Star Wars character we created for LEGO on TV and now our first iOS game is released. These are exciting times for Killer Minnow."

Killer Minnow is already working on an update to the game. Features planned include: more levels, achievements, customizable controls, and more!

Rocket Runner was created, designed, and funded by Killer Minnow with programming provided by San Francisco, California-based Sourcebits Inc. The game is the opening piece of a larger transmedia property rollout based on the Killer Minnow comic character Jarhma Queed. Web comics, animation, and additional content are coming soon.
