His method was instrumental in grounding the learning so that I as a student could place myself into scenarios where I could almost gain a visceral feel for the teaching points he was providing. His extensive experience and ability to portray intelligence operations scenarios and personalities during my Cover course phone conversations with him were integral in my ability to craft and execute an intelligence cover plan under his instruction. He challenged me numerous times all the while keeping the learning points salient in our exchanges. I gained a great deal more than I bargained for in the courses that Mr. Bowser instructed me in. Mr. Bowser began teaching at Henley-Putnam University in 2007; he has Master’s of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Master’s of Science in Political Science from Auburn University. Mr. Bowser is a retired military officer with over 40 years experience in the areas of intelligence, intelligence collection, and national security. In particular, he served overseas as a human intelligence field officer and Operations Officer for over six years. Mr. Bowser also has extensive experience in the Washington D.C. area as the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Directorate of Estimates Branch Chief. In this role he was involved in drafting and coordinating National Intelligence Estimates and many types of NATO documents. He has been involved internationally with intelligence operations and business operations in more than 40 countries. Mr. Bowser understands the critical role of human intelligence within the All Source Intelligence collection and analysis process. He is committed to teaching the intelligence principles and practical field procedures to Henley-Putnam University intelligence students who see our national security as a paramount responsibility.
Nominations made by both students and professional members of Henley-Putnam University’s Academic Affairs Administration determine the recipient of the Faculty Excellence Award. The Academic Affairs Administrators review all nominations received for the award, focusing on the distinguishing contributions of the nominees, their length of service with the University, types of service within the University, and other notable contributions or achievements, especially as those contributions relate to the University mission and institutional learning outcomes for advancing the field of strategic security. The Award is decided by a vote, and the winner receives a certificate acknowledging this award.
