OWOSSO, Mich., Dec. 17, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Baker College, Michigan's largest private, not-for-profit college and top private transfer school in the state, and Henry Ford College (HFC), a student-centered, evidence-based public community college, signed an official articulation agreement at a virtual ceremony today, Dec. 17, 2020.
The articulation, or credit transfer, agreement provides HFC students with resources for a simplified and streamlined pathway to bachelor's degree studies at Baker College. It ensures a smooth curriculum transition, minimizing loss of credits and duplication of coursework. Additionally, Baker will waive any new student application fees for eligible students admitted in connection with the HFC articulation agreement. Baker College also offers specific scholarships for transfer students, including the Trustees Transfer Scholarship, with up to $9,000 per year available to eligible students.
The agreement, which takes effect immediately, was signed on behalf of the higher education institutions by Dr. Bart Daig, president of Baker College, and Russell A. Kavalhuna, president of Henry Ford College. Also participating in the virtual signing ceremony for HFC were: Dr. Cristina Bailey, director of academic services; Dr. David Maier, Computer Information Systems faculty; and Dr. Michael Nealon, vice president of academic affairs. Dr. Daig was joined virtually by Baker College of Auburn Hills Campus President, Pete Karsten, and Dr. Jill Langen, Baker College provost.

Under the arrangement, Baker College and HFC agree that any student who has successfully completed coursework and/or programs at HFC may transfer the course credits as indicated in transfer guides toward their degree at Baker. The associate degree to bachelor's degree pathway, under which Baker College will accept a minimum of 60 transfer credits, will be available across a variety of degree programs, including: business administration, computer science, criminal justice, game software development, general studies, health care administration, human services, information systems, information technology & security, psychology and more.
Additionally, this agreement includes 12 program pathways that identify HFC courses that can be applied to the third year of a Baker College bachelor's degree. These include programs in business, information technology and psychology, and can be up to an additional 30 credits beyond the associate degree.
