President and CEO of HFA, Dave Wilgus, recently announced the promotion of three HFA Directors to Vice President, joining the senior leadership team at HFA effective October 14, 2020.
One of the three new Vice Presidents is James Owens, AIA, NCARB. Owens brings 19 years of architectural industry experience to his new role here at HFA. Originally brought on to HFA nine years ago with the Allevato Architects merger, Owens has been an integral part of the Franklin studio and continues to use his experience and influence to help develop HFA employees across all studios.

Wilgus adds, "The whole point of adding more executives is so that we, as a company, can better support our clients and our people. Our top priority will always be that we are working well together and exceeding our client's expectations.”
One of the most pressing and significant priorities Owens has for his new role as Vice President? Mentoring. He believes that in 2021 and beyond, "growth" will be vital for the success of HFA and its employees. This doesn't just stop at the growth of resources or increase in the number of clients, but the individual and holistic growth of the individuals HFA employs.
Owens says, "I prefer to lead by example, and in this case, I lead by embodying HFA's shared values. "Lead with excellence" is one of HFA's shared values that I take to heart. Another important shared value, "Exceed Expectations," starts, for me personally, with quality and project delivery. To help our clients succeed, we have to deliver on-time, quality documents, and present the client with design thinking options based on our experience and expertise. I've been told that my passion is infectious. I get excited about the little things, so I always strive to inspire everyone around me, as well. If you're not excited about what you're doing, then why are you doing it?"
