Higher Education User Group Announced Record Attendance at Successful Cloud Symposium
The Higher Education User Group™ (the HEUG™) held its second Cloud Symposium on February 4 & 5 in Redwood Shores, California, and it was a resounding success. With the growing interest in and adoption of cloud applications for higher education, this year's symposium attracted record attendance and engagement.
MESA, Ariz., Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Higher Education User Group™ (the HEUG™) held its second Cloud Symposium on February 4 & 5 in Redwood Shores, California, and it was a resounding success. With the growing interest in and adoption of cloud applications for higher education, this year's symposium attracted over 150 attendees from 40 institutions, more than doubling the 2017 event.
While many of the representatives that are live and/or implementing Oracle ERP or HCM Cloud applications came to share their stories, others attended to learn and to ask questions about Oracle Cloud applications and how well they work for higher education. In addition to U.S. institutions, the HEUG was happy to welcome representatives from Mexico, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

The two-day event was broken into unique focus days, with the first day focused on Oracle's Cloud ERP and HCM applications. After a welcome by HEUG President Jane Broad, attendees heard remarks from Oracle leadership, including special guest speaker Oracle CEO, Mark Hurd. Mr. Hurd, as well as Oracle Group Vice President, Vivian Wong, and Nicole Engelbert, Vice President of Higher Education Development presented a common theme of Oracle's strong commitment to higher education and the cloud. The rest of the day consisted of panel discussions from representative institutions focusing on "Life after Go-Live," and "Lessons Learned on Integration and Cloud Solutions," as well as a special presentation by Vicky Tambellini, President & CEO, of The Tambellini Group, about their research on preparing institutions for a successful migration to cloud applications.
For day two, the primary focus was on Oracle's Student Cloud application suite. Oracle again provided key speakers including Vice President of Higher Education Product Management John Refila, as well as the closing speakers, Susan Beidler, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Susan Hoagland, Principal Sales Consultant, who provided a very thorough presentation and Q&A on the Oracle Student Cloud. As with Monday, the majority of the content for the day was from higher Education representatives, including discussion on Oracle's Student Financial Planning application; Early Adoption of the Student Cloud application Suite; and "Lessons Learned from First Movers with Cloud: How to make the right early decisions?"
