EC-Council Foundation Launches Live.Learn.Secure.; A Middle and High School Cyber Security Education Program in Home School Co-Ops
Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) November 13, 2013 -- EC-Council Foundation is a non-profit initiative created by the founding members of EC-Council. The foundation’s goal is to help remediate cyber security safety issues for youth and adults alike through training and education. To accomplish this goal, EC-Council Foundation created the Live.Learn.Secure. program that donates cyber security courseware to training and education facilities. To date, EC-Council Foundation has partnered with over 40 schools in the United States, as well as schools and training centers in the Philippines and Peru. By partnering with numerous education and training facilities, EC-Council Foundation hopes to get as many students as possible trained in cyber security.
The DIDASKO and Cornerstone Co-Ops will help EC-Council Foundation accomplish its goal by teaching the Certified Secure Computer User (CSCU) certification to middle and high school aged, home school students in the Ohio area. This is a first for the Foundation, as all of the Live.Learn.Secure. partners that currently teach the CSCU certification program are schools or training centers. Working with the DIDASKO and Cornerstone Co-Ops, EC-Council Foundation will create two case studies that will track the students starting knowledge on information security, train the students then assess the student’s knowledge of cyber security after completing the CSCU program. The Certified Secure Computer User (CSCU) program will train the students on basic information security topics such as: definitions of phishing attacks, virus, email hoaxes and how to stay safe while online.
In creating a case study of the two home school co-ops, EC-Council Foundation will lead the way for other home school programs to adopt the Certified Secure Computer User courseware and training. EC-Council Foundation will use the case studies as examples on how other home school programs should teach the certification. Jay Bavisi a Security Evangelist Co-Founder of EC-Council Foundation stated, “As technology continues to advance, it is important to equip our children with the knowledge they need to stay safe online, while teaching them a skill set that can be used towards job placement in the future.”
