The Daily Herald Business Ledger selected Director of Human Resources at Hilton Chicago Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center Sarah Brown to receive the publication's Influential Women in Business Award (IWIB).

The IWIB awards ceremony, which recognizes outstanding women executives who excel in business, civic and personal areas, was held Nov. 1 at Hilton Chicago Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center in Oak Brook. Twenty-one women were recognized for their achievements in their fields.

Brown is a professional with more than 10 years of human resource management experience. She has a wealth of experience in strategic human resource planning, performance management, staffing and retention, federal and state law compliance, employee benefits, compensation and payroll, training and development and more. Her experience spans both city and suburban markets at luxury and lifestyle hotels.

Since coming to the resort last year, Brown has been instrumental in creating various community service projects such as a special fund to help resort employees in financial need, veterans breakfast and job fair, an event inviting local teachers to learn about the hospitality industry, Toys for Tots donation drive and a partnership with the La Grange Area Department of Special Education where students work with the resort to learn job skills.
