Winner of 'World's Best Pot and Column Still Rum' at the 2019 World Rum Awards, Pusser's rum is distilled and blended in Guyana in accordance with the original Royal Navy admiralty recipe last used when the daily issue of rum was discontinued nearly five decades ago. The blend continues to be heavily influenced by distillate from vintage Greenheart wooden pot stills which were first placed in service in 1734. Pusser's Rum is one of only a handful of spirit brands in the world to hold a trademarked cocktail – The Painkiller, first created at the Soggy Dollar Bar in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and further improved upon and internationally memorialized by Pusser's Rum founder, Charles Tobias.
After over 300 years of the daily rum ration, the Royal Navy issued its final 'tot' of Pusser's Rum on July 31st, 1970, a date now known as 'Black Tot Day'. The rum issue, one of the longest and unbroken traditions in seafaring history, ended with the Queen mother issuing the last rum tot of Pussers on board in ceremonial fashion. 2020 will mark the historic landmark of 50 years since Black Tot day.
