The firm's work in the commonwealth, however, can be traced back to the 1930s when it designed the Burlington-Bristol Bridge over the Delaware River between Burlington, NJ, and Bristol Township, PA. Over the decades, the firm has supported Pennsylvania's transportation agencies and other public and private clients in delivering mobility solutions that power local economies and strengthen communities.
A contract with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to consult on intelligent transportation systems established the firm's permanent presence in Pennsylvania in 1994 with a small office in Plymouth Meeting. Since then, HNTB has worked on projects across the Commonwealth, and today employs more than 160 multidisciplinary professionals in five Pennsylvania office locations, including Philadelphia, King of Prussia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh and Allentown.
