HNTB Names Five Technical Experts as Fellows
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (PRWEB) March 28, 2018 -- HNTB Corporation named five new Fellows, the highest technical honor within the company. HNTB’s Fellows Program distinguishes HNTB employees who are recognized experts in their respective fields.
With these latest additions, HNTB calls 23 of its current top technical experts, Fellows:
Sanja Zlatanic, PE, tunnel services practice chair and senior vice president; Ron Deverman, CEP, principal environmental planning manager and associate vice president; Chuck Miller, Ph.D., PE, PTOE, senior project manager; John Szturo, RG, PG, senior project manager; and Doug Woodbury, PE, senior program manager and vice president; earned the accolade.
These significant factors were considered in the selection process for each Fellow:

• High degree of technical and design leadership, outreach and collaboration with colleges and universities, and staff development skills

HNTB’s newest Fellows have achieved remarkable results for the firm’s clients in a variety of markets across the U.S. and internationally, as well as significant career achievements:
Zlatanic, based in New York, New York, is an internationally renowned tunnel engineering expert on the leading edge of her profession. In her role, she directs the firm’s tunneling and underground projects and leads HNTB’s global marketing and business development for tunneling and complex underground structures within the transportation and water resources markets. Some of HNTB’s most complex underground projects have benefited from Zlatanic’s award-winning planning, design and support services, including the Crenshaw/LAX transit corridor in Los Angeles, Presidio Parkway in San Francisco, Istanbul Strait Road Tube Crossing, the SR 99 Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle, and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s Bay Area Rapid Transit Silicon Valley Extension Project.
Deverman, based in Chicago, is a nationally recognized environmental planning expert. Since 2012, he has served as HNTB’s program manager leading the delivery of the Chicago Regional Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program, which will increase efficiency, safety and reliability of passenger and freight rail systems in the Chicago region. Additionally, Deverman played an integral role on projects in Ohio, Georgia and Illinois that have earned multiple industry awards.
Miller, based in Kansas City, Missouri, is an expert on intelligent transportation systems and a leader in truck parking information management systems. With his contributions, HNTB helped secure a federal grant to fund an eight-state truck parking deployment – the Mid America Association of State Transportation Officials’ Regional Truck Parking Information and Management System. Miller currently serves as technical task lead for the program.
Szturo, also based in Kansas City, has served HNTB’s geotechnical engineering department since 1977 and participated in more than 500 projects. One of his most notable involved orchestrating the first design and construction of a large interchange over abandoned lead and zinc mines in southwest Missouri. Serving as resident engineer, Szturo oversaw the ground remediation without a single contractor claim. Currently, Szturo serves as geotechnical constructability consultant on the Walk Bridge Program in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Woodbury, based in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, specializes in transit and rail. His expertise has led to success for numerous transit and rail clients throughout the U.S., including the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, Long Island Rail Road, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, and Metro Transit in Minneapolis. Currently, Woodbury serves as project manager on the MBTA’s Cabot Yard and Maintenance Facility Improvement project in Boston.
