Hope For The Warriors® Announces Celebrity Golf Invitational Benefiting Military Families
Wallace, NC (PRWEB) June 09, 2015 -- Wounded service members, celebrities, retired Flag Officers, sports legends and more will enjoy three days of golf and fun as part of the 6th Annual Scarlet & Gold Invitational. The Scarlet & Gold Invitational will be held August 16-18, 2015 at the River Landing Country Club in Wallace, NC. All proceeds from the event will benefit Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.
The event will honor our nation’s heroes through a celebrity golf outing. Participants will play on a team with both a service member and celebrity and engage with them at several social events. The event is sure to be one of tribute to our nation’s military heroes, and will be very memorable with participation from several notable celebrities and former athletes.
Johnny Bench and Doug Flynn will co-host the Scarlet & Gold Invitational once again this year. Johnny Bench is a former MLB catcher who most notably played for the Cincinnati Reds from 1967 to 1983. Doug Flynn is a former MLB infielder most known for playing with the Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets.
“For years we have looked for ways to contribute and make a difference in the lives of so many that have made the ultimate sacrifice by serving our country,” said co-hosts Johnny Bench and Doug Flynn. “We decided to use our talents and support Hope For The Warriors® at the Scarlet & Gold Invitational by spending time with these heroes.”
Attending the event will be many Flag Officers committed to supporting our heroes at the Scarlet & Gold Invitational. Among the impressive list is Four-Star General William Nyland, USMC (Ret.). General Nyland served as the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps from 2002 until 2005.
Other notable celebrities in attendance will include NASCAR driver Mike Skinner and his wife, Angie Skinner, host of a NASCAR SIRIUS radio show, and former Offensive Lineman for the Washington Redskins, Ken Huff.
