Jacksonville, NC (PRWEB) April 22, 2015 -- The 10th Annual Run For The Warriors® Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1-Mile Walk/Run in Jacksonville, NC will feature newly USATF certified race routes. The maps of the courses can be found at http://www.hopeforthewarriors.org/2015R4W. These new routes will allow all races to start and finish on the track at Jacksonville High School on race day, Saturday, May 16, 2015. The opening ceremony will begin at 7 A.M., and all races will follow at 8 A.M. in waves, from longest to shortest distance. Beyond new courses, participants of each distance will receive a tech shirt made from performance moisture-wicking material. The new Hope For The Warriors® run team, which features two military veterans with many years of race directing experience, desires to make the run a rewarding experience for all participants. Our new leadership has directed more than 50 races, with a majority being held in Eastern North Carolina.
“We’re creating races we want to do ourselves. We understand every time you register for an event you’re casting a vote,” said Brandon Wilson, Run For The Warriors® Race Captain. “The changes we have made to the run will create a rewarding experience for all participants while focusing on restoring military families.”
Registration is open by visiting hopeforthewarriors.org/2015R4W. All proceeds from the race will benefit Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and military families.
Run For The Warriors® races are unique events dedicated to the men and women wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, their families, and families of the fallen. It is a celebration of their strength and resolve and a promise to continue restoring self, family, and hope. The goal of each race is to establish a long-term understanding and respect for the needs of local military families in their communities. The Run For The Warriors® race series also provides wounded service members encouragement and the opportunity to pursue the sport of running, walking, or cycling to assist in their physical and emotional rehabilitation.
