Horizon Goodwill Industries Announces New CEO, David Shuster
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (PRWEB) March 06, 2019 -- The Board of Directors of Horizon Goodwill Industries, Inc. is pleased to announce that David Shuster has been officially named CEO of Horizon Goodwill, after holding the position as Interim Chief Executive Officer since October 2018.
Shuster previously served as the Director of Operations and Compliance for Horizon Goodwill since February 2016. In this position, David successfully implemented safety initiatives to improve incident reporting time and reduce the overall number of reportable injuries and worker's compensation claims. Shuster was instrumental in initiating and managing sustainability initiatives, including oversight of installation of a 985kW solar generation facility, conversion of all facility lighting to LED fixtures, and implementation of processes to improve efficiency and reduce the waste stream.
In regards to his new role, Shuster says, "I look forward to leading Horizon Goodwill into the future. I am passionate about our work in human and workforce development and am excited to explore what is yet possible. In addition to his work with Horizon Goodwill, Shuster is also an active member of the community serving on the Hagerstown Rotary-Sunrise and the Greater Hagerstown Committee, and he previously served as a Flotilla Commander with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary while living in Virginia.
Shuster hails from Springfield, Va. and currently lives with his wife, Aliana, and their four children in Smithsburg, Md. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts and a Master of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Virginia Tech. He recently earned his doctoral degree in educational leadership from Frostburg State University at USMH. His studies centered on the application of positive psychology theories, including authentic leadership, strengths, and psychological capital, to educational and work environments. His dissertation research specifically focused on the ability of faculty to influence student hope and success.
