Houston Family's Home Transformed by Non-Profit TLG Gives
TLG Gives, the philanthropic arm of The Loken Group with Keller Williams, completed renovations for their 2019 Home Transformation. This year's project benefited Houston-based Menchaca family.
HOUSTON, Sept. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- TLG Gives, the philanthropic arm of The Loken Group with Keller Williams, has completed renovations for their 2019 Home Transformation, benefiting Houston-based Menchaca family. Renovations began on July 10 and were completed August 16.
This year's project was centered around making the Menchaca's home more handicap accessible for Luis Menchaca, who became confined to a wheelchair in 2014 and has since been living away from his family in a nursing home.
Thanks to the help of local businesses and over 60 volunteers, who donated over 100 hours to complete the project, the Menchaca's home underwent a full transformation, including a brand-new kitchen with all updated appliances, total renovation of both bathrooms to make them more handicap accessible, two bedrooms combined into one to create an extra large master bedroom, new roof, electrical and plumbing work, fresh interior and exterior paint, all new flooring throughout, widened door widths to meet ADA accessibility and brand new furniture.
"Our goal for this project was to make this home more accessible and functional for Sylvia and Luis. We wanted them to have a home that lasts and that they can enjoy with the rest of their family. Together, with Meraki Construction, we were able to give them a new space to call their own. Sylvia Menchaca, who recently retired from her job as a beloved lunch aide from Ridgemont Elementary, expressed her overwhelming gratitude for TLG Gives. "Me by myself, I don't know how many years it would have taken me to complete this job. Especially because I am not working anymore. I would never have been able to do what you guys did here – it would have been too much for me. You did a lot for me. Thank you everybody for everything," said Sylvia.
