ALAMOGORDO, N.M., April 29, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center (GCRMC), an independent community hospital, is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a $65 million dollar expansion that will expand its capacity and create a need for more clinical staff.
"Being 1 of 2 community hospitals in New Mexico, and while community hospitals around the country continue to downsize, GCRMC's expansion will allow us to create new jobs for Otero County as well as the need for recruiting additional provider and clinical staff from outside the area. This includes registered nurses, physical therapists, medical assistants, technicians, physicians, nurse practitioners and more," said Robert Middleton, Vice President of Patient Care Services, CNO and CCO.(Current and future job postings plus Middleton's 1 Minute Video on 70 year anniversary are available for viewing at https://gcrmcnursejobs.org). In order to attract talent nationwide, GCRMC offers relocation assistance for candidates who live more than 50 miles from the facility and up to a $15k Sign-On bonus for certain registered nurse specialties. Other specialties range from $5k to $10k.
The hospital's expansion project includes a new, 64,000-square-foot medical office building, as well as an expansion to the emergency department, cancer center and central sterile department with a more than 106,000-square-foot renovated space.
"In addition to taking on this large project large construction project overall, we're continuing to find new ways to recruit physicians, and providers, and staff to help us continue to grow," said Middleton, "a lot of our focus is on making care close to home. We realized that there are things we aren't doing now that we will be able to do when this new project is complete." So one of the questions Middleton continually asks his team is "how do we bring the right members of the team to the table to help us be successful."
HR Maximizer's team has been working as a support to the HR team at GCRMC since late 2016, and look forward to continuing to assist GCRMC throughout the expansion efforts. "We are very excited for GCRMC's expansion project and look forward to continuing to partner with them in attracting the best clinical staff available. Together we are expanding their recruitment efforts to a nationwide campaign so that more registered nurses and physical therapists are aware of the great things happening in Alamogordo," says Rollis Fontenot III, president of HR Maximizer (https://hrmaximizer.com)
The GCRMC Regional Medical Center, which prides itself as the "organization where patients choose to come, physicians want to practice, and people want to work," opened in 1948 to provide Otero County with a hospital.
In 1999, after many renovations and expansions, the hospital moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility where it stands today, providing world-class medical care to Otero County and the surrounding areas.
Today, the hospital is a Level III trauma center with 99 beds and sits on a 65-acre campus with facilities and services including: surgery, cath lab, behavioral health (inpatient and outpatient), rehabilitation (inpatient and outpatient) MRI, CAT scan, dialysis, and sleep disorder studies, and has a medical laboratory on site.
"We might be a rural hospital in New Mexico, but it doesn't mean that we can't be extraordinary at what we do, and our patients have the best possible experience coming to seek services," Middleton said.
