In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, many small businesses are putting their heart and soul into lending a helping hand to those in need. Once such business known for its custom car decals and emblem overlays, DeVries Signs, has created heartwarming stickers that share a message of solidarity to those working around the clock to serve their communities. Available for purchase on Etsy in two styles, "I Heart NY Heroes" and "I Heart NY Nurses", 20% of all proceeds will be donated to the Johns Hopkins Medicine COVID-19 Relief Fund.
“I feel very lucky to have the ability to manage our Etsy business while working from home. There are so many others who do not have the capabilities of doing so, or are out on the front lines, putting themselves at risk to ensure the safety and well-being of others. From nurses to grocery store clerks, we and so many others appreciate the sacrifices essential workers are making,” remarks Roger DeVries. “When my wife and I learned of how dedicated Johns Hopkins Medicine is to supporting COVID-19 patient care, prevention and research for a cure, we immediately felt incredibly passionate about doing all that we can to raise funds.”
Johns Hopkins Medicine is combating the pandemic by supporting the purchase of hospital supplies, protective gear for clinical staff, and oxygenation and respiratory equipment as well as improving direct patient care through additional services and staffing. Funds raised will also contribute to their research for a cure, utilizing their world-class scientific strength in disciplines relevant to the disease to detect, diagnose, treat and prevent COVID-19 in diverse people, including those who have chronic conditions, such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease.
