Human Thread Foundation names Brian Rusch Executive Director
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 21, 2017 -- The Human Thread Foundation (HTF) is pleased to announce that Brian Rusch has been appointed as its new Executive Director. Founded in 2017 by humanitarian photographer Lisa Kristine, The Human Thread Foundation brings awareness to international human rights crises (such as trafficking and child labor) through multimedia exhibitions and educational programs. An internationally renowned peace and justice advocate and nonprofit leader, Rusch brings robust experience to the new organization.
Human Thread Foundation founder Lisa Kristine said that Rusch is the perfect choice to launch her new organization. “We are thrilled to have Brian join us as Executive Director. His hands-on work with global peacemakers like Archbishop Tutu and the Dalai Lama, together with his remarkable skill set give him unique insight and experience to launch the foundation and help us achieve our mission of recognizing the human dignity and worth of all people,” said Kristine. “Brian’s impressive track record and passion for our work make him uniquely qualified to accomplish our goals, with an urgent focus on ending the practices of human trafficking and modern slavery.”
A passionate advocate for human rights, Rusch joins the Human Thread Foundation after serving as the Executive Director for the Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation, where he created and launched a series of peace and justice programs inspired by the legacy and life’s work of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu. Prior to that, Rusch was the Deputy Executive Director of the Dalai Lama Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting the development of our shared global capacity for ethics and peace.
“I have long been an admirer of not just the work that Lisa creates, but the way she puts her life in danger to shine a light on the plight of others. It is truly an honor to join Lisa as she launches her foundation,” Rusch says. “There are tens of millions of people enslaved in the world right now, it is a global epidemic that goes unaddressed because so many are unaware of the problem. I welcome the opportunity to work with Lisa and the entire foundation to tell the stories of these people, to do our part to bring them to freedom, and to end the practices that keep people in servitude.”
Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu gave the new foundation and Mr. Rusch’s involvement a glowing endorsement: “While we hate to see him depart, I am pleased to learn that Brian will be working with my friend, the humanitarian photographer Lisa Kristine. The work of Ms. Kristine’s new foundation to bring awareness of the plight of our brothers and sisters, especially children, living in modern slavery is work that is so important and work that I wholeheartedly endorse. I am convinced that Brian will bring the same determination to this new effort that he has in everything he did working on my behalf.”
