TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Hundreds of proud graduates and their family and friends totaling more than 6,100 people gathered in Tampa this week from all across the country to celebrate commencement from Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA), a 25-year-old non-profit higher education institution dedicated to empowering students to excel in healthcare careers.
"UMA has been educating, preparing and empowering students for a quarter-century, and during this time our institution has grown along with the ambitions of these students," said UMA Interim President Tom Rametta.
The institution's 2019 Fall Commencement ceremony took place Oct. 5 at the Yuengling Center on USF's Tampa campus and honored students from around the country who completed or will complete their programs between May 20, 2019 and November 10, 2019. While hundreds of students and their families traveled to attend the ceremony, the event was also live-streamed online so thousands of UMA graduates, friends and family across the nation could join the celebration.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (1. https://www.bls.gov/emp/tables/emp-by-major-occupational-group.htm), more than 12.5 million workers will be needed to fill open healthcare positions between 2018 and 2028. Since 1994, UMA has prepared students to meet that growing need by offering programs related to Health and Human Services, Health Information Technology, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Technology and Systems, Medical Billing and Coding and more. These programs prepare students to fill roles that include Medical Administrative Assistants, Medical Office and Billing Specialists, Pharmacy Technicians, Dental Assistants, Medical Assistants, Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Technicians and Phlebotomy Technicians. UMA serves learners from around the U.S. through online programs, and they also have a physical campus offering hands-on learning in Clearwater, Florida.
