SAVANNAH, Ga., Sept. 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Heavy rain and storm surges are expected to affect much of the Georgia coastline due to Hurricane Dorian's catastrophic storm status. Inspiritus is on the ground ready to help with initial clean-up, muck-and-gut operations, and volunteer coordination efforts. The disaster response team has been monitoring the storm's trajectory, as well as assisting coastal communities in advance of the storm. Many of these communities are impoverished with elderly residents.
"Some of the elderly residents didn't even realize a hurricane was approaching, so we've been able to step in and create evacuation plans to get them to their local senior centers or nearby homes of friends and family in the area." - Sabrina More, Inspiritus Disaster Case Manager.
Inspiritus has played a crucial role in long-term recovery assistance to hundreds of Georgians following Hurricane Irma.
"We feel called upon to help survivors regain what they've lost, and we want to help prepare them for what might lie ahead. There is a serious, emotional impact on survivors when they have to go through the same peril of another storm." - Alvin Kates, Inspiritus Construction Manager and Georgia VOAD Board Member.
Inspiritus has impacted the lives of more than 100,000 individuals across Georgia and the Southeast. Over the past several years, it has expanded both the scope and geographic reach of its services. Inspiritus has Georgia offices in Atlanta, Athens, Columbus, Rome, and Savannah.
