The Technology
Using the OBDII data ports and data bus systems on different types of vehicles, Hytiva is able to read data from the vehicle's sensors and computer about fuel levels, air bag deployment, maintenance warnings, acceleration, and a myriad of other data in real-time. This data is combined with other sensors and functionality built into the hardware, such as GPS, Wifi, Cellular connectivity, storage, camera connectivity, and more.
Realtime logistics data is incredibly valuable for increasing efficiency, safety, and reducing costs daily. Scenarios such as improving driver safety with dispatch alerts when an accident occurs, lower maintenance costs with immediate maintenance notifications, detailed fuel mileage tracking, and better cannabis compliance with less staff time required are just a few examples.
Usually, this data can only be acquired using third party services that do not provide the level of security, information, or functionality required to really put this technology to use at the level Hytiva needed. This required building its hardware at home in the U.S., with a highly controlled supply chain and individual components sourced directly from U.S. manufacturers with U.S. fabrication, then from trusted countries with verifiable circuits and secure/open manufacturing practices. At assembly, each device is further secured by anti-interdiction markings and seals, meant to make tampering evident during shipment and after install. Anti-interdiction describes practices intended to prevent the interception or tampering with a commodity during shipping or movement. These practices are invaluable for devices deployed in the field, such as telematics devices, where they are exposed and moving every day.
The most common security threats include third-party staff who have access to your information. Even third party access intended for protection can be the source that compromises any system.
