Ideal Option Opens Addiction Medicine Clinic in Idaho Falls
Bonneville County residents can now access low-barrier medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorder (SUD).
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Dec. 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ideal Option, a national leader in evidence-based treatment for addiction to fentanyl, methamphetamine, alcohol and other substances, is now welcoming new patients in Idaho Falls. The new clinic, located at 380 N Capital Ave, Ste #1, Idaho Falls, ID 83402, will provide physician-led, outpatient medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
With the uptick in substance use and overdose rates during the pandemic, the opening of the new clinic comes at a time of great need. According to the Idaho Office of Drug Policy, 1,900 Idahoans died of overdose-related deaths in the first year of the pandemic, compared to 264 deaths in 2019. Governor Little credits the surge in drug overdoses to the abundance of cheap supplies of meth and fentanyl.
According to the Idaho State Police, in 2020, about 20,000 fentanyl pills were seized, a staggering increase from the amount seized in 2019 (just 195 pills). In 2021, nearly 28,000 fentanyl pills have already been seized. Sgt. Curt Sprout with the ISP said fentanyl is one of the most dangerous drugs he has seen in his career.
"Among our Idaho patients, 42% tested positive for fentanyl at enrollment in September 2021 – a 242% increase over September 2020," stated Tim Kilgallon, CEO of Ideal Option. "Our providers are ready and equipped to manage patients dependent on fentanyl. Ideal Option has developed clinical protocols designed specifically to assist patients through the difficult transition phase from fentanyl to buprenorphine."
The new Ideal Option clinic in Idaho Falls is open Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. and is located at 380 N Capital Ave, Ste #1, Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
Most forms of insurance are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid, and patients can typically get started on treatment for fentanyl, heroin, alcohol or other substances within 1-3 business days.
