The release of the Annual Data Breach Report supports the Data Privacy Week 2023 initiative to educate businesses on data collection best practices that respect data privacy and promote transparency
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 18, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, the Identity Theft Resource Center® (ITRC), a nationally recognized nonprofit organization established to support victims of identity crime, announced its commitment to Data Privacy Week 2023. The ITRC supports the principle that all organizations share the responsibility of being conscientious stewards of personal information.
As part of Data Privacy Week 2023 on January 22-28, the ITRC will unveil the 17th edition of our Annual Data Breach Report on Wednesday, January 25, at the Identity, Authentication and the Road Ahead Cybersecurity Policy Forum, presented by the Better Identity Coalition, the FIDO Alliance and the ITRC. The ITRC will also have a session featuring the Center's work on identity crimes in the Black community.
The policy forum will bring together leaders from government, industry and nonprofits to discuss what can be done to drive better identity infrastructure in America, what to expect from the new Congress and the Biden Administration in 2023, the findings in the ITRC's 2022 Annual Data Breach Report and more. The 2022 Annual Data Breach Report will explore fundamental shifts in the root causes of identity-related crimes. Data Privacy Week is an annual expanded effort from Data Privacy Day with the goal of spreading awareness about online privacy among individuals and organizations. The purpose is twofold: to help citizens understand that they have the power to manage their data and to help organizations understand why it is important to respect their users' data.
