This month, Ideum was granted a hardware patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The company received the patent for its unique and ruggedized multitouch display enclosures.

Ideum is pleased to announce the grant of U.S. Patent No. 10,255,509. The patent describes a new method of using extruded metal to create a ruggedized frame to encase digital multitouch displays. This method also includes fabrication of a metal back panel to provide structural rigidity and provide a mounting surface for the display itself.

The patent recognizes the continually-advancing quality and innovation represented in Ideum’s design and manufacturing processes. This innovative all-aluminum frame, along with industry-leading 3M™ touch technology and LG commercial 4K Ultra HD displays rated for 24/7 use, creates superior multitouch displays ready for even the most demanding spaces.

“We are very proud of our team who helped make this happen,” said Jim Spadaccini, Ideum Founder and Creative Director. “A few years back, our Industrial Design team identified critical points in the manufacturing process of our touch displays and worked closely with exhibit technicians in our workshop to develop a new touchscreen design focusing on performance and durability. This new patent caps a decade of work in developing touch tables and multitouch displays.”

Ideum designs and develops ruggedized turnkey products utilizing new and emerging technologies for museums, Fortune 500 companies, and a wide range of educational institutions and public spaces. Ideum’s multitouch tables and touch walls are practical implementations of recent advances in multiple areas of emerging technology, and our hardware products are built to be used in social environments where they encourage interaction and collaboration. Ideum’s multitouch tables and displays have been sold in more than 40 countries around the world.
