Schaumburg, IL (PRWEB) January 22, 2015 -- On January 16, 2015, in one of the first cases of its kind in Illinois, a concealed carry license holder was found not guilty after trial. In the case People v. Danielson (14 CM 00004034) held in Lake County, the concealed carry license holder was accused by the police of using his weapon improperly to defend himself and his property when a trespasser unlawfully came onto his property and threatened him with death or great bodily harm.
The Court delivered the not guilty verdict after Schaumburg criminal defense attorney Thomas T. Glasgow successfully argued that the alleged victim's version of events was not credible and the police arrested the defendant simply because he had a concealed carry license.
The Court, in its ruling, specifically found that the witnesses, which were discovered by Glasgow's independent investigation, were the linchpin of why the defendant had been found not guilty. The Court emphasized that eyewitness testimony of the witness directly contradicted the alleged victim's version of the events and discredited his version of the events.
"This was a case about credibility. Our independent investigation turned up witnesses and evidence that the police had simply missed. The eyewitness testimony was critical in disputing the prosecution's version of the events that occurred that day and ultimately led to the not guilty verdict and dismissal of the charges by the Court," says Schaumburg criminal lawyer Thomas Glasgow.
