The Illinois Intellectual Property Alliance (ILIPA or the Alliance) announced today its’ incorporation in the State of Illinois and a founder’s information video conference meeting that will take place on Monday, April 27, 2020. The mission of the Alliance is to serve as a connecting hub for local and regional organizations, enabling an effective ecosystem and marketplace to facilitate the creation, protection, and enablement of intellectual property.

This connecting hub will foster innovation for the economic and social well-being of Illinois citizens. Alongside similar efforts in Georgia and other states, the Alliance will be a founding chapter to the recently established United States Intellectual Property Alliance (USIPA).

The Alliance is comprised of experienced professionals from throughout the Illinois business ecosystem: creators, protectors, and enablers. These professionals will represent interests from academia, advisory services, banking and finance, business and community organizations, law, incubators and accelerators, not-for-profit organizations, public and private companies, and research laboratories. The Alliance will engage officials in Congress, local and state government, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Office of the United States Trade Representative, and the International Trade Commission, among others. This collective collaboration of thought leaders seeks to further the efficient utilization of intellectual property to improve the quality of life in Illinois.

“By serving as a connecting hub for thought leaders across several diverse industries, this Alliance serves a currently unmet need in our state; in short, the Alliance endeavors to be inclusive.” said Adam Kelly, a Partner in the Chicago office of Loeb & Loeb, LLP and co-founder of the Alliance. “The issues impacting IP are global, national, and local. To address these challenges, a new voice is needed to ensure improved creation, protection, and enablement of intellectual property in Illinois” echoes J ames E. Malackowski, Chief Executive of Ocean Tomo, LLC, and also a co-founder of the Alliance.
