LOS ANGELES, June 9, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- EdTech Breakthrough today announced that it has selected Immerse as winner of its "Language Learning Innovation of the Year" award, in its third annual awards program. The leading market intelligence organization recognizes the top companies and solutions in the global educational technology market.
Immerse is an edtech startup which has developed a Virtual Reality language teaching and learning platform for English language students. Within the platform, learners are guided in real-time by their language teacher as they walk through, communicate, and collaborate with their peers. Learners work together to explore a variety of scenes, manipulate items, respond to challenges and solve problems synchronously.
Students can also choose an avatar from the Character Dashboard and step into a realistic scene in order to role play scenarios in a fun, authentic way. Furthermore, students learn without real-world distractions such as notes and smartphones, allowing for a fully immersive experience.
"For successful online learning, language learners need opportunities to fully immerse in a language, in spaces where language use is relevant, and fully engaging conversations with peers can happen spontaneously allowing educators to observe language development and progress," said James Johnson, managing director, EdTech Breakthrough. "Whether it's classroom, distance, or hybrid learning, Immerse represents a breakthrough tool that delivers synchronous English language learning. Congratulations to the Immerse team on winning our 'Language Learning Innovation of the Year' award."
The mission of the EdTech Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the innovation, hard work and success in a range of educational technology categories, including Student Engagement, School Administration, Adaptive Learning, STEM Education, e-Learning, Career Preparation and many more. This year's program attracted more than 2,000 nominations from over 17 different countries throughout the world.
"Current online learning and communications tools do not facilitate the engaging, collaborative working environments that are necessary for student-centered learning," said Quinn Taber, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Immerse.
"Our dream is to use Virtual Reality to give educators the power to bring these core aspects of language learning back into their teaching practice," Taber continues. "Our global team of language education experts, VR developers and designers are passionate about helping language schools thrive and we are thrilled to receive this 2021 EdTech Breakthrough Award in recognition of our passion and success in doing so."
Immerse offers workshops to help teachers and instructional designers become fluent users of the Planning Hub in order to bring a school's English language curriculum to life in VR. Immerse is able to coach non-technical instructors on how to improve their VR "know how" and virtual world facilitation skills with an end-to-end teacher training guide and student VR learning guide.
