THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Feb. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Implant Direct announced today that its SMARTbase abutment has received 510(k) clearance and will be available for the InterActive™ system in the United States beginning February 25, 2019. SMARTbase CAD/CAM abutments combine ideal aesthetics for your patients and more freedom of choice with your restorations.
"We're pleased to be bringing the SMARTbase platform to clinicians in the United States," said David Painter, Vice President of Commercial Operations at Implant Direct. "The SMARTbase abutment can be positioned 0° to 25° off-axis to discreetly hide the screw access channel and provide for greater reach, particularly in the posterior where space is limited."
Already widely used in Europe, the SMARTbase abutment supports both single and multi-unit cases for easier crown & bridge and full-arch restorations and works in both digital or conventional workflows. The anti-rotation design at the coronal region allows clinicians to achieve proper alignment to the prosthesis. The fixation screw can also be pre-assembled into the base prior to seating for easier seating of the restoration
SMARTbase is available in a dual hue finish for enhanced aesthetics. The gold anodization allows for the use of more translucent restorative materials while the pink anodization of the titanium base offers a more natural blending with the gingival tissue. The concave transgingival profile shapes tissue growth for a thicker gingival cuff, reducing the chances of the abutment showing through the gingival tissue.
