The Los Angeles International Film Festival (LAIFF) returns in 2022 and it has been a hot-spot for showcasing innovative cinema and new trends in indie film-making. This year's LAIFF showcases the screenings of a broad range of genres by international directors, and bringing the best of fresh film-making to film-loving LA audiences. IN THE DESERT OF ETERNITY, the fifth episode of ANN HUANG PRESENTS (the Short Film Limited Series), has won The Best Experimental Short Film at the festival. The award was presented to the writer/poet, director and producer Ann Huang in person during the festival's award ceremony on Sunday November 6th, 2022.

Ann Huang, the writer/poet, director and producer for the film IN THE DESERT OF ETERNITY, received the Best Experimental Award on Sunday at 2:45 PM PST. Ann was emotional at receiving the award, "This film is about celebration of cinematic arts as well as poetry. Thank you LAIFF for recognizing the importance of these inter-disciplines in today's film-making. Thank you Natasha (Festival Director), thank you for everything." Ann also commented that it was made right before her mother's passing in 2019, and then ensued by the pandemic. This award is the highlight of her career after a dark hiatus.
IN THE DESERT OF ETERNITY is the fifth episode of the short film limited series ANN HUANG PRESENTS. The juxtaposition of visuals alongside the voice-over narrations takes the audience on an exciting exploration of the relationships of two women (one alive and one dead) who have fallen in love with the same man. Throughout the film, the women confront their love and share experiences with him.
Anastasia Lincoln, the female lead for the film attended the festival's opening night party and was welcomed by the festival organizers.
IN THE DESERT OF ETERNITY has screened the first time in the Laemmle Monica Film Center @ Shorts block 9 from 4pm - 5:05pm, among other five officially-selected shorts.
