Fernandez recommends keeping a close eye on actions, policies and realities, not the discourses and speeches.
NEW YORK, Sept. 6, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- What progress has Mexico made in achieving its climate goals?
In the new Net Zero show Net Zero Speaks with Adrián Fernández, teen Climate Activist Jerôme Peyret Oberholzer interviews Ferández, the Director of Iniciativa Climática de México who has worked for more than 30 years on climate change and environmental policy issues in Mexico.
Fernández is a leading expert in the areas of air pollution, environmental health, and toxic substances. He is additionally the founder and CEO of Mexico Climate Initiative, a non-profit foundation that promotes climate change mitigation efforts. Oberholzer discusses with Fernández the most important climate lessons Mexico has learned in the past 30 years about the environment and what it must do to achieve its Net Zero goal. "Energy policies in Mexico at the moment are not the right ones – they are not supporting renewables," says Fernández. "We should keep a close eye on actions, policies and realities not the discourses and speeches. We need to make sure every country including Mexico has a transparent, precise and robust plan."
